MOVING RESEARCH FORWARD WITH NEW ENGLAND MANUSCRIPTS

A journey through the research of the Richardson family of Grafton County, New Hampshire, brought forth David Richardson, and eight siblings, all without a mother listed on their birth record. Using the Rix Manuscript and Samuel Emery's journal brought forward that Anna Aldrich was the mother of these children, without citation.  This lecture walks the audience through the use of manuscripts to guide research, and creative ways to support vital events.

UNRAVELING FLAWED RESEARCH

While in the process of identifying biological parents for Maria Hogue (b. 1810 in Kentucky) using both documentary evidence and DNA, a prior research project was published online and widely adopted. The report drew large conclusions based on flawed methodology, that had to be unraveled prior to moving forward on finding a family for Maria.  This lecture walks the audience through the unraveling process, and how to attack flawed research.
